Jesus Suffered. Why Shouldn’t I?

A Perfect Man Suffered the Worst

We often ask, “Why is this happening to me?”

Why the heartbreak?

Why the betrayal?

Why the pain?

But maybe the better question is:

Why do we expect a life free of suffering when Jesus—the perfect, sinless Son of God—suffered more than anyone ever has?

He never sinned.

Never wronged anyone.

And yet, He was mocked, rejected, beaten, betrayed, abandoned, and crucified.

The Cross Wasn’t Just Painful—It Was Personal

“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief…”

— Isaiah 53:3

Jesus didn’t suffer because He deserved it.

He suffered because we did.

And in doing so, He didn’t just die for us—He showed us how to suffer with purpose.

If Jesus Suffered, I Will Too

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

— Luke 9:23

Following Jesus doesn’t mean avoiding pain. It means walking the same road He walked—a narrow path marked by sacrifice, humility, and yes, suffering.

But don’t miss this:

Your suffering doesn’t mean God is far from you.

It might mean He’s never been closer.

What Suffering Produces

The world says suffering is failure. The Bible says it’s refinement.

“Suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope…”

— Romans 5:3–4

Jesus’ suffering produced salvation.

Yours can produce sanctification.

He doesn’t waste pain. He uses it to make you more like Him.

You’re Not Alone in the Fire

When you suffer:

  • Jesus knows how it feels.
  • Jesus is with you in it.
  • Jesus promises to redeem it.

He doesn’t promise a pain-free life. He promises His presence in the pain.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you…”

— Isaiah 43:2

Final Thought

If a perfect Man suffered—and that suffering led to the greatest victory in history—then maybe your suffering isn’t the end of your story either.

Jesus didn’t avoid pain.

He walked through it—with purpose.

So when life hurts, you don’t have to give up.

You can look to the cross and say, “Jesus suffered. Why shouldn’t I?”

Then pick up your cross, and follow Him.

🤕 Why Forgiveness Is Important — Spiritually, Emotionally, and Practically

Forgiveness isn’t easy—but it’s essential. Not just for the person who hurt you, but for your own freedom, healing, and relationship with God. 1. Because God Commands It Jesus didn’t leave forgiveness as a suggestion. He made it clear: “If you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” —Matthew 6:15 When we forgive, we are obeying God and reflecting His mercy. As believers, we forgive because we’ve been forgiven. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” —Ephesians 4:32 2. Because Unforgiveness Holds You Prisoner Holding onto bitterness is like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die. It eats at your peace. It feeds resentment. It blocks joy. Forgiveness doesn’t mean what they did was okay—it means you’re choosing not to let it control you anymore. 3. Because It Sets You Free Forgiveness doesn’t change the past, but it transforms your present. It...

♥️ What Real Love Looks Like

Love is a word we hear every day—sung in songs, spoken in vows, printed on cards—but rarely do we stop to ask: What is real love? The World’s Version vs. God’s Version The world defines love as a feeling—fleeting, emotional, often self-centered. But the Bible flips that on its head. Love, according to God, is not just about how we feel. It’s about how we choose to act. It’s selfless. It’s sacrificial. It’s holy. “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude.” —1 Corinthians 13:4-5 (ESV) That kind of love doesn’t come naturally. It comes supernaturally. The kind of love that forgives the unforgivable, serves without expecting anything back, and lays down its life for others—that’s the love God poured out on the cross. Jesus: The Perfect Picture of Love The greatest example of love the world has ever known is Jesus Christ. He didn’t wait for us to be perfect before loving us. “But God shows his love for us in that while we wer...
